Motto: Možnost jako potenciální stav bytí
Vážení přátelé, dámy a pánové !
Zdeněk Kučera a Mgr. Ladislav Daněk a to nejen v rámci olomoucké oblasti.
Doba i technika pokročila, a tak díla mistra Schnabla vznikají tou nejčistší a nejaktuálnější formou a to přes počítač v programu Correl.
Umělce s kritickým zrakem, jasnou představou a dostatečnou mírou hravosti a trpělivosti.
Počítač umí sice velmi rychle pracovat, ale stále ještě mu chybí nápady a fantazie. A ty má mistr Schnabl.
Vyzařovala z něj vyrovnanost, přátelskost, nadšení uměním a dobrá nálada.
S přátelstvím a obdivem

Text in a catalogue for the Galeriezet Exhibition, Velká Bystřice 2016

Motto: Possibility as a potential state of being

Dear friends, ladies and gentlemen,

I know that it is rather awkward to begin any paper by a collocation: I do not know. But hopefully this confession will not influence the text’s credibility but on the contrary will be understood as an admission of clear honesty.

I really do not know if I met the author Schnabl first or first I was impressed by his work. Both is not able to be overlooked and is able to be recognized from far away.

At first observation of Oldřich Schnabl work in complex folders having one idea and aesthetic linea, I first had an idea that he represents the Olomouc circle of concretists, as Zdeněk Kučera or Ladislav Daněk. I also thought of Vasarely, the father of Op Art from the fifties. But the technique of Op Art was limited by possibilities of that time, the technique used templets and rastres to apply colour by means of paint rollers or gluing of different geometric shapes and moving their position.

The time and techniques have evolved. The work of Schnabl is developing in a clear and most actual form, in the programme of Correl.

Only a naïve observer might think that it is a simple way of creation when it is done by a computer. The opposite is true. The computer must be firstly well comprehended to use it as a pencil, or a crayon or a coulour. The artist needs a critical sight, a clear idea and a moderate amount of playfulness and patience.

The computer is able to work fast but it still misses ideas and fantasy. This is what the master possesses. His sensible eye can differentiate and develop aesthetics of everyday life and make it perfect and unique – to be inspired, he is content by looking on a falling light on a door handle, or a rhythm of construction panels, lately also the letters which are coded in many of his latest prints.

The Schnabl’s digital graphics are unmistakable in coulour too. The thoughtful work with shades of basic colours and their combinations leading into perfect compositions of figures make of his work a discovery way of creation.

Mister Schnabl himself cannot be missed. At some opening of an exhibition I noticed a tall handsome man with a sparkle in his blue eyes. He gave a feeling of being a stable well -tempered friendly person enchanted by arts. I can see his serenity, placidity, calm and a detached point of view in his work.

I value Mr. Schnabl also for one more reason, even given an unfriendly fate, political reasons and restrictions, he has been able to face it courageously and continue his path to fulfill his dreams.

At the time when his peers gave up the usage of computers even at a basic level, Oldřich Schnabl gave in with enthusiasm and managed to tame the computer in the same way as he did with brushes and pastels, classical graphic technology under the leadership of renowned artists – Lubomír Schneider and Stanislav Menšík. Thanks to its own diligence, experience he has become a great artist of perspective, creativity and vision.

Today, as a key member of the Circle of Olomouc artists he is of a great support.

I am honoured, that I can to you, Oldřich, my friend, and not only to your jubilee, wish you many more creative, successful and happy years.
